frequently asked questions
Question 1: I have already been or plan to attend a GIN or MUN conference this year. Why should I come to CLima?
Answer 1: This is a once is a lifetime opportunity. Seriously. CLima is an officially accredited United Nations Event for Youth in advance of the COP 20 UN Talks -which is quite arguably going to be the most important meeting on the planet. The GIN solutions shared at CLima and the MUN resolutions developed at CLima will be shared directly with our UNFCC collaborative team. Our Keynote speakers are integral partners in the ongoing global action on Climate Change. It is time for students who attend MUN because they have a desire to enter a diplomatic career and students who engage in GIN because they intend to dedicate their service to developing solutions of global relevance to collaborate and understand the power in building on each other's strengths.
Come to CLima.
Change Wisely.
Question 2: Is there a requirement for a student attending CLima to be experienced in both MUN and GIN?
Answer 2. There is no requirement whatsoever for students to present a GIN component AND actively participate in MUN Committees. We wanted to leave it open that if students wanted to they could but that would likely be a rare and exceptional few.
Question 3: What are the expectations for a GIN student attending CLima?
Answer 3: A GIN Team coming to the conference will present their GIN Presentation once (as normal) to an audience consisting of some GIN and MUN students. This gives MUN students a chance to see what GIN is all about (as an AUDIENCE member only).
More information my be found here.
Question 4: What are the expectations for a MUN student attending CLima?
Answer 4: An MUN student coming to the conference takes place in a regular MUN one-day conference on Saturday (as normal) and then will present their resolutions to an audience of GIN students. This gives GIN students a chance to see what MUN is all about.

Answer 5: All Keynotes, Expert Panels, Meals, Entertainment and EDx Activities are shared by both GIN and MUN groups.
Detailed information may be found here
Question 6: Is this conference only for experienced MUN or GIN delegates?
Answer 6: No previous experience in either GIN or MUN is required.
Question 7: How do GIN and MUN students take part in the EDx event on Sunday?
Answer 7: Sunday is a new format where 99% of the conference participants will be acting as audience members only. Up to 5 exceptional student speakers will address this audience in individual TEDx style presentations. We are still accepting applications for these slots. Please consider applying!
Question 8: What else will happen on the EDx Sunday?
Answer 8: The theme for Sunday is Arts and Science and we will have some unique activities, keynotes and events throughout the day along this theme and the conference idea of "changing wisely". Students need to prepare nothing in advance for this...just enjoy themselves!
Question 9: My students have no prior experience in GIN or MUN and would like to attend CLima as a growth experience in student leadership and attend as audience members only -might this be possible?
Answer 9: While this is not ideal there is merit to students (especially younger students) who wish to learn more about student leadership to come and experience this first hand. If this is the case please email [email protected] directly to discuss registration options. The full $250 USD conference registration fee would still apply.
Question 10: Are middle school students able to attend?
Answer 10: CLima is open to Gr.7-12 students.
