GIN Film Festival
What is the GIN Film Festival?
The film festival is an opportunity for each team to produce a short film which showcases the work the team has done towards creating a solution for an issue of global importance.
The film festival happens in sections throughout the program just prior to the workshop presentations.
The film festival entry you produce works to provide guidance to your potential audience members about why they should choose your workshop. CLima conference attendees will have to choose 4 GIN Presentations to attend out of potentially 30 different options available over the course of the conference.
Your film festival entry along with your workshop description is your primary means of communicating with your potential audience.
Please give this film festival entry your serious consideration and apply your skills to creating an engaging, informative, professional piece of work.
The film festival entries will be published to our YouTube Channel before the conference and will remain there after the conference completion for future reference.
Each GIN Team must create and submit their film festival entry BY AUGUST 6th.
Film festival entries may be between 2-4 minutes. Think of it as a movie trailer.
All films submitted will be shown during the conference. Remember, you’re raising awareness and inspiring action.
Ideas to get you started in choosing your film festival entry FORMAT....
Past Film Festival Entries
As you watch these film festival entries consider the aspects you appreciate and would incorporate in your own film festival design as well as which aspects you would wish to avoid. If you feel something is missing, make a note and be sure to include this aspect in your own film festival entry.

Ideas to get you started in choosing your film festival entry FORMAT....
- A Public Service Announcement: a short commercial that informs about issues and inspires action.
OR - A Documentary is a film that documents real life. For our festival, your documentary should be about an activity that your school or organization within your school has done to raise awareness or work towards solving a global problem.
OR - A Narrative film is a story. Your narrative should tell a story that is based around solving a social or environmental issue. This can be handled in any way that you’d like – the more creative the better.
